Overview

ArtGility, Funk Format and New Theatre Royal at Victorious festival, Portsmouth. Funded by the Arts Council England.

“ArtGility” is an innovative movement language which fuses hip-hop dance, theatre, parkour, architecture and technology. ArtGility also uses choreographic and physical movement principles, along with architectural elements to educate audiences through the art of story telling.

Hypozeuxis” – ‘a rhetorical term for an expression or sentence where every clause has its own independent subject and predicate.’

This performance uses ArtGility to challenge the stereotypes in which male dancers succumb to, and introduces this new ideology to a predominately contemporary audience at Victorious Festival. Choreographed by Malik Diouf from Yamakasi and Sasha Biloshisky from Soul Rawkus.

Over the two day festival, each performance followed by a workshop for children and teenagers. Volunteers from Funk Format assisted in workshops which allowed them to develop new skills.

The show “Hypozeuxis” received an incredible feedback from the audience.
